Missing boy: Police find body

After a two day search, the body of five-year-old Matthew was found.

The search for five-year-old Matthew Ryan Olivier has come to a tragic end after police found his body at the bottom of a water-filled ditch.

The boy went missing on Sunday at approximately 5:55pm while visiting his grandparents on their farm in Groenplaas.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein police, “We found his body in a trench on the farm he went missing.”

She said he was found in the water but the cause of death cannot be confirmed until an autopsy is done.

It is believed the boy went to go play on his grandparent’s property and when his parents called him in for supper, they could not find him.
