Domestic violence ends in death

Police: The body of a 30-year-old woman was found in Village Street.

Even though the country was busy with the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence campaign, the Randfontein Police had a murder case that resulted from domestic violence.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for Randfontein Police, it is alleged at around 1.35am on Sunday, 29 November the body of a 30-year-old woman was found in Village Street. She allegedly was stabbed by her boyfriend.

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children is an international awareness-raising campaign. It takes place every year from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day).

The investigating officer, Warrant officer Bongani Mpete is urgently requesting assistance in tracing the suspect and witnesses to the incident. Any information can be communicated to him on 011 278 8100.

The South African Police Service calls on the help of the community members to assist them with information. Anyone with information can contact the Crime Stop number – 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line – 32211 to report crime anonymously.
