Christmas comes early for kids at Carryou

The aim was to warm 30 children's hearts by throwing them a Christmas party.

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) along with Magriet van der Hoven from Elite Needle Craft came together at Carryou Ministry’s crèche on Friday to deliver early Christmas presents.

The aim was to warm 30 children’s hearts by throwing them a Christmas party and giving them each their own teddy bear.

Members of Randfontein who attended include Peter Dick, DA Ward 9 councillor; the founder of Carryou Ministry, Pam Jamison; Joy Hamann of the RPA; Lesiba Mmethi (agricultural projects); Brenda Naholo, programme manager for Sponsored and Orphaned children; Maria Petersen, Coordinator at Carryou Ministry’s and Hilton Hamann an author.

Magriet’s initiative to knit teddy bears for the less fortunate began this year. For this occasion she had knitted 30 teddies.

I knitted these teddies for the less fortunate because most of these children will not receive even one Christmas present. I will definitely carry on knitting for children like this in the future,” said Magriet.

The Carryou Ministry’s crèche alone services over 300 children in their  surrounding area , with another branch in Toekomsrus that services around 450 children.

The children who received their teddies were aged between three and six years old.

When the Herald arrived they had a ball of a time and while playing with their teddy bears they enjoyed some cake as well as other treats supplied by the RPA and Swanepoel Boekhouers.
