Silverstar brings the beach to Joburg this December

Entertainment will include limbo competitions, fire poi, and a Calypso band to complete the beach vibe.

Get ready for sand, sun and plenty of fun at the Silverstar Beach Festival from 11 to 20 December with delicious seafood, cocktails and beach activities perfect for the holiday season.

It’s not every day that Joburg residents can enjoy the carefree beach feeling – soft sand between your toes, an excuse to put on your bikini, sipping cocktails while relaxing in the sun… but for a few special days this December, you can do just that as Silverstar Square is transformed into a tropical beach playground, with children’s activities by day and a beach paradise for adults by night.

Parents, bring your kids to the beach during the day to enjoy sand castle building, tug of war, hoola hoop and ice-cream eating competitions. The fun continues with an inflatable waterslide, beach volleyball, and more.

The beach will be transformed at night, when you can enjoy scrumptious seafood specials, drinks and good company at lowly lit tables. Entertainment will include limbo competitions, fire poi, and a Calypso band to complete the beach vibe.

An extra treat is planned for the opening night of the Beach Festival, 11 December, when you can join Charlize Berg and Jay as they lead you in Christmas Carols on the beach.

As part of the Beach Festival, a range of seafood specials will be on offer from restaurants on the Square, with Billy G doing a seafood paella, Publicity doing prawn baskets, seafood pizza from Vigour & Verve, as well as calamari, fish and chips, and more of your favourites.

Two beach bars will be available on the Square throughout the day and evening offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic slush.

This event is a highlight for Shane Collinson, Director of Operations and Complex General Manager at Silverstar Casino who shares, “I am so excited about our Beach Festival. Coming from Durban, the beach is a big part of my life and I jumped at the idea of bringing the beach to the West Rand suburbs of Johannesburg, for everyone to enjoy.”

Children’s activities will run from 10am to 6pm daily and the adult set-up from 6pm to 10pm every evening. Entry is free.
