Licence department makes too much money

I will now take my friend to make a booking at another department.

I was at the licencing department in this week with a friend whom had to write her learners license, for the fourth time.

Previous times I also went with. What really amazes me is if you ask people how many times have they written.

Some are first timers but most has been there more than three times. And most of them say the same thing! “If I don’t pass today I will drive without a license” and “that it is only a way to make money!”

That is scary!! Is that the reason why there is so many unlicenced people on the road?

Whilst waiting for my friend I checked to see how many of the people whom “wrote” (all is computerized) came out blue papers in hand. Only two!! Now you want to tell me that out of a group of about 20 people only two passed?? And then one has to pay R108 per booking.

Calculate it! 18 people fail and have to rebook, that’s already R1 944 and most of them was there more than 3 times! That comes to a whopping R5 832. So out of curiosity I went back again and waited. This time round not a single person passed!!

One of the applicants said its his 8th time and he is now finished. Hitting the road license or not! And can one blame him?

He told me his story. He is working for a salary of R 1500. His place to stay is R800 a month, he has to pay child support of R300. So what does this man have left to get through a month and then he must fork out R108 every time.

And the best is his boss has after his third attempt paid for his learners course at a driving school.

So off we went to the well known driving school. All his test over a period of two weeks he passed!! First few he had a few wrong but still passed. Last two test he had full marks!

That brings me under the impression that something is definitely to right at the Randfontein licencing department.

I will now take my friend to make a booking at another department.
