Brave residents nab suspected robbers

Resident: One of them could barely walk once everyone was done with them.

The community in Homelake fed up with crime took matters into their own hands when two suspected robbers were caught trespassing on private property at noon on Sunday.

Resident Walter Selapyane explained to the Herald that he and a friend, Marcus Thangone – whose house also was broken into not so long ago – were having a conversation and standing just outside Thangone’s home when suddenly they saw a man jumping the fence into Thangone’s home.

Selapyane immediately gave chase and suddenly found the trespasser had an accomplice. The two suspects then allegedly were chased by Nola security guards and eventually caught.

When the suspects were asked what they were doing jumping a fence into someone else’s home they said they were looking for scrap metal. Workers from Nola as well as passersby then took matters into their own hands and beat the suspects up.

Everyone felt like they got what they wanted (they taught them a lesson) and they let the men go. One of them could barely walk once everyone was done with them,” said Selapyane.

He added, “I cannot believe the same incident happened twice in the same area just a week after each other.”
