R’fontein models care for nature

R'fontein models win titles at big pageant.

Two Randfontein girls competed for the coveted Miss Nature Conservation SA (MNCSA) title in a fancy do in Discovery, Roodepoort.

The MNCSA title is not just about being beautiful, it is mostly about the conservation of the planet’s resources, animals, habitats and plants.

The pageant is in its second year and organiser as well as MNCSA founder, Stephan Myburgh, managed to get pageant queens from all over Gauteng to participate in the auspicious event.

Stephan said it was an honour for him to find suitable candidates for the competition.

On the judging panel was one of Caxton’s very own – Mathilde Myburgh, journalist for the Roodepoort Record. A Randfontein businessman also served as a judge on the night.

After the entrants strutted their stuff on stage, they were asked various questions about nature conservation and they were also asked which causes within conservation they are involved with.

Towards the end of the night, just for fun, women in the crowd – some who have had modelling experience and others who may have missed their calling in life – took to the stage to strut their stuff.

For the first time in MNCSA’s short history, a Mrs Nature Conservation SA was crowned.

The Randfontein entrants, Celestine Parken and Shanze Berry were crowned Miss Ambassador 2015 and Miss Debutant 2015, respectfully.
