Young man hijacked at traffic light

Police: The only help he had was from a passing shepherd.

A 30-year-old man was hijacked at the Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse traffic light and taken at least 20km away to Soweto where the only help he had was from a passing shepherd.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, the incident occurred on 6 November.

The complainant said his vehicle was stationary at the traffic light when two unknown men pointed at him with a firearm and forced him to move to the middle of the bakkie.”

She said the suspects allegedly got into the bakkie and drove off with him for 20km after which he was dropped of in Bram Fischerville.

The Hilux bakkie, which is a company vehicle with the registration number BB39HCGP is still missing. The Randfontein Police are urging anyone who saw the hijacking or saw the vehicle to contact the Randfontein Police.

The police call on the community to report any crime-related information to Crime Stop: 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line: 32211 to report crime anonymously.
