Mom-and-daughter team wins cupcake competiton
'It is important for families to cook together and eat together' – Spur.
A Randfontein mother and daughter were crowned queens of the cupcake in the Spur Secret Tribe Cook competition.
The event was held for Spur’s Secret Tribe members – a club exclusively for children aged 12 and under. The competition was hosted by well-known foodie, Justine Drake. A total of 11 parents from Johannesburg took part in the competition and were competing to make the best cupcake and best burger.
Each parent-child team was given the challenge to bake and decorate cupcakes as well as burgers. The teams also were given the opportunity to use their favourite Spur sauce as an ingredient in their creations.
Teams were judged on their ability to work together, how creatively they decorated their creation and of course, what the final product tasted like.
Grace Hlatshaywowon and her eight-year-old daughter Masego won the prize for the best cupcake for their beautifully decorated and delicious cupcakes.
The competition was fierce. All the teams worked so well together, reminding us how important it is for families to cook together and eat together”, Joe Stead, creative director of Spur Steak Ranches said.
