Man murdered in room

Police: The suspect is still at large.

Randfontein Police are investigating a case of murder after a 37-year-old man was stabbed to death in his room in Mohlakeng.

Captain Appel Ernst of the Randfontein Police confirmed the incident took place at around 5.18pm last Tuesday.

“It is alleged the victim was in his room when a known man came to the residence and went straight to the victim’s room.

“Witnesses then heard the victim calling out for help and when they responded, they saw the suspect leaving the victim’s room. He was allegedly holding a knife when he left the scene on foot.

The witnesses rushed to the victim’s room but found him badly injured. It is alleged the victim sustained stab wounds to his upper body. Emergency personnel were called and they declared the victim dead on the scene.

“The landlady also called the police and a case of murder was opened. The suspect is still at large.

“The reason for the attack is unknown and is being investigated. The investigating officer, Warrant officer Bhongani Mpete would appreciate any assistance that might lead to the arrest of the suspect.”
