Five people were killed and one injured following a horror head-on collision at around 8.45pm on Monday.
The accident took place on Main Road towards Westonaria.
At about 9.16pm Netcare 911 paramedics received a call informing them of the accident.
“Netcare 911 paramedics, their rescue unit and the Randfontein Fire department arrived at the scene and found the road obstructed with accident debris and twisted frames of the vehicles.
After the paramedics examined the injured it was found that two men and three women, one of them a child, tragically died due to extensive injuries they sustained. A three year old girl also was found with critical injuries.
“Paramedics first stabilised the girl before she was transported to a specialised facility under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic,” said Chris Botha, spokesperson for Netcare 911.
Exact detail to the cause of this fatal accident and preceding events is still speculative and will remain a matter for police investigation and comment.
