BREAKING NEWS: Man in 50s on scooter hit by bakkie

There are two versions of what happened in this collision.

This afternoon, at approximately 2:20pm a man on a scooter was allegedly hit by a white bakkie in a T-bone collision.

It is believed from reports on scene that he man on the scooter came from the opposite direction in which the bakkie was travelling and when the man turned to the left, the bakkie allegedly crashed into him.

This is according to Gareth Robinson, who was first on the scene.

Another witness, Christine van Rooyen, says she saw the man on the scooter losing control after which he fell. She said his scooter then slid to the side of the road. The white bakkie then came from the back and hit the scooter on the back wheel.

Netcare 911 and the Randfontein Traffic Department were on the scene with Quick Response Services arriving shortly after.

Melanie Kleinhans, paramedic, said, “We are stabilising the patient and then we will be taking him to Yusuf Daidoo hospital in Krugersdorp for further evaluation.”

The white male, in his late 50’s was communicating with the people around him, aside from severe bruises on his legs and arms.
