Tour guide airlifted after falling down mountain

'The team arrived at the mountain and with a great team effort managed to navigate the rocky terrain to get to the patient'

On Thursday a tour guide was rescued by several emergency services, after she had fallen on a mountain at Magaliesburg.

Chris Botha, spokesperson for Netcare 911 said, “Netcare 911 paramedics, Gauteng Mountain Rescue, West Rand Disaster management and the Magalies City Search and Rescue and fire department were activated for the tour guide that had fallen and injured herself.”

“The team arrived at the mountain and with a great team effort managed to navigate the rocky terrain to get to the patient. After the patient was stabilised and immobilised on a trauma board, medics and rescue personnel had to carry her across the Rocky terrain to where the helicopter landed on top of the mountain.”

The injured female was later transported by the Netcare 1 helicopter to a specialised hospital for the care she required.
