Drug dealer hides his stash in steering wheel

Police bust drug dealer.

The West Rand K9 Unit arrested a 26-year-old man for possession and dealing in drugs.

They arrested him near a college in Randfontein at approximately 10.50am on Thursday.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police,

It is alleged Sergeants Gumede and Rohloff as well as Constable Poyana were doing routine patrols when they spotted a suspicious vehicle near Westcol College in Helikon Park. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was searched. He was found  in possession of two packets of drugs, presumed to be cat.”

Ernst explained, “The officers took the man into custody and asked him for his home address. Police along with the suspect went to the house and searched it.

“They found that drugs were sold from there since packaging material and a substantial amount of cash were found in the suspect’s room. They did not find more drugs. The officers searched his vehicle.”

There they found 41 packets of drugs hidden in the steering wheel. The estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is R10 000.

The suspect was detained at the Randfontein Police Station and will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court soon.

“Randfontein Police management applauded the perseverance and dedication of the members,” Ernst said.
