Body found floating in water

‘It is understood that a member of public noticed the body floating in the canal.’

A body of a man has been found in a water canal next to the R53 near Potchefstroom on Monday morning.

According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, “Paramedics were called to the scene by the police, and on their arrival, they found the patient lying on the bank next to the police vehicle.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had been dead for some time. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient.

It is understood that a member of public noticed the body floating in the canal. The body was pulled from the water by the police prior to the arrival of paramedics.”

The cause of the incident is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
