Five injured in house fire

'Three of the patients were children aged 1, 5 and 10.'

Five people were injured including three children when a fire broke out at a residence in Impala Street in Carletonville on Wednesday.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, “Paramedics, along with fire services, arrived on scene and found five patients sitting on the sidewalk outside their home. Three of the patients were children aged 1, 5 and 10.

Fire services began battling the blaze which had apparently broken out in one of the bedrooms. Paramedics assessed and attended to the patients who were in a state of shock.

“Shortly after the blaze was extinguished, paramedics transported the patients to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.”

The cause of the incident is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
