UPDATE: Trapped woman driver dies

'Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for her'.

A woman died following a collision with a tanker on the N12 about 20 km out of Potchefstroom early on Monday.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing confirmed, “When ER24 paramedics, provincial paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found a severely damaged car wedged under the tanker.

“A woman was entrapped in the vehicle. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done for her. She was declared dead.

“Fire and Rescue Services and other authorities worked together to extricate the woman and clear the wreckage. The driver of the tanker was assessed and transported to hospital to be attended to for shock.”

The exact cause of the collision is unknown however authorities were on scene for further investigations.
