Mother, child hit and killed by car
'It is understood that the driver of the vehicle failed to notice the pedestrians crossing the road.'
A woman and her two-year-old child have been killed after they were hit by a light motor vehicle on Peter Road in Ruimsig on the West Rand on Wednesday.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, “Paramedics arrived on scene and found the two lifeless bodies in the middle of the road. The light motor vehicle that collided with the pedestrians had stopped a few metres away.
“On assessment, paramedics discovered that both the mother and child had sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead on scene. The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
“It is understood that the driver of the vehicle failed to notice the pedestrians crossing the road.”
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
