Municipal power outage, not load shedding
'Two coils on the Eskom breakers burned, the reason is unknown at this stage' — Municipality
Lucky Chiya, Spokesperson for the Randfontein Local Municipality would like to inform residents that the current power outage is not load shedding.
“We are currently experiencing a problem at industries main intake substation. A large portion of the town is currently affected. Two coils on the Eskom breakers burned, the reason is unknown at this stage. We called in a local contractor on our data base that specialises on these switches to assist. The down time is unknown,” Chiya said.
It is believed that the substation that currently has an issue is the same substation that blew up months back.
