Young man killed in alleged street fight

Man, 22, allegedly murdered with sharp object.

It has been alleged a 22-year-old man died after he was wounded fatally with a sharp object following a street fight in Mohlakeng on Saturday around midnight.

“It is alleged that the 22-year-old victim was returning home from a night out at a local tavern. According to information received, a fight broke out in the street and the victim was fatally wounded with a sharp object,” captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein police said in a statement.

Ernst continued, “The victim died instantly. The investigating team is currently prioritising this investigation in order to follow up leads and information.

“The acting station commander, Colonel Marius Smit condemned this senseless murder. He assures the community that all possible avenues will be investigated to bring the perpetrators to book.”
