Life in the slow lane – 40km/h?

Goverment is looking to introduce new ammendments regarding speed limits and ...

The Department of Transport has announced a proposed speed limit of 40km/h in urban areas.

Should they get their way, motorists would have to adhere to the new rules when travelling.

But this is not all as other amendments to the Traffic Road Act was also announced a fortnight ago.

Other amendments include:

• A speed limit of 80km/h on open roads and 100km/h on freeways.

• Motorists would have to redo a practical test when renewing their license.

• No trucks to be allowed on the roads between 6am and 9am and between 5pm and 8pm.

• No workers to be transported on the back of open vehicles.

• No children to be transported on the back of a bakkie for a fee.

The proposed amendments have been met wit a lot of criticism.
