Man and dog reunited

'We are absolutely thrilled, they're like our children' — owner.

The bond between man and dog is unbreakable.

This was recently proven true after dog owner, Godfrey Jacobsen was reunited with his two beloved dogs, Bekkie and Sokkies, after they had been missing for three months.

According to Jacobsen, “Both of them went missing on New Year’s Day (1 January) of this year.”

He then proceeded to notify the relevant authorities in order to find his dogs. Posters were put up at the Greenhills Animal Clinic, in addition to this, the SPCA was also on the lookout for the dogs.

The first dog, Sokkies, was found by the Randfontein and Westonaria SPCA who took the dog to the animal clinic on Thursday (2 April) where they called Jacobsen to identify the dog.

Jacobsen approached the van as Janette Muller, inspector at the SPCA opened the back of the van and pulled the blanket off the dog. Jacobsen gave one look at the dog and knew it was Sokkies.

Sokkies was so traumatised by his experience away from his owner that he did not as much as bat an eyelid when his owner began petting him and talking to him. Sokkies stood with his tail between his legs and could barely walk.

He was then taken into the Animal Clinic to get checked out and was later returned to his owner but Jacobsen’s other dog, Bekkie, was still missing.

A few days after Sokkies was found, Bekkie was also found five days later on Tuesday (7 April) but in a far better state. She was found near Johnny’s Cafe in Wheatlands.

“We are absolutely thrilled that we have them back. Our whole family was traumatised when they disappeared — they’re like a our children,” said Jacobsen.
