Randgate Boxers off to SAs once again

Without sponsors, Randgate Boxing Club still manage to make it to the top.

Randgate Boxing Club have done it yet again after a number of members managed to qualify for the up and coming SAs.

The club has no sponsors and does not charge club fees — it runs out of  the club’s own pocket yet it still strives and produces top quality boxers.

Amorie Gonsalves, Demorne van der Walt, Nicole Calitz and Hardus Jacobs all made it through to SAs.

Gonsalves has been boxing for approximately seven years and falls into the junior group of SAs. She comes from a long line of boxers and holds that lineage up high.

Van der Walt has been boxing for four years and is the only boxer from Randgate Boxing Club that will go to SAs in the youth category. Her jabs are as fast as lightning and she brings a certain panache to the ring.

Calitz has been boxing for three years but watching her is like watching a soon to be veteran. She will be boxing in the junior category.

Jacobs is small but lightning fast. He is light on his feet and he boxes with style. He will be boxing in the junior category.

According to Willie Gonsalves, head coach at the Randgate Boxing Club, “The only reason he didn’t make it to SAs last year is because he did not make the weight requirement for his category.”

These boxers have been chosen but now the real battle begins; now they have to win and hold Randfontein’s name up high.
