RHS athletes deliver against big names

'In terms of our cluster, RHS dominated' — D2 team manager.

Randfontein High School (RHS) gave some of the big names in school sport a run for their money during the recent D2 Athletics Championships.

According to Lelanie Bradford, D2 team manager, “The competition was tough. I mean, we had to compete against Monument and Noordheuwel. In terms of our cluster, RHS dominated.”

A total of 33 athletes from RHS participated in the much spoken about D2 Athletics Championship. Of the 33 athletes that participated, seven went through to compete at the Gauteng Athletics Championships. Of the seven, two athletes already have been to SAs – Holiday Malepe is a third time SA Athlete and Thabang Makoena has been to SAs once before.

The seven athletes through to Gauteng:

• Holiday Malepe

• Thabang Mokoena

• William Mudila

• Bianca Appelcryn

• Abe Dikgale

• Lesego Mokoena

• Collins Mapfulagasha

In the build-up to the D2 championships RHS has had a great season on the athletics circuit so far having won the English Inter-high for English-medium schools, a competition that has been running for 40 years.
