UPDATE: Wiring allegedly the main cause of Randgate fire

The house's wiring is what could have caused the fire – fire prevention tells resident.

The Randgate blaze that left a family of five homeless on Monday has been investigated by Fire Prevention from the Fire Department.

No one sustained serious injuries and although members of Fire Prevention as well as fire fighters were on the scene to try and salvage what they could from inside the house it was too late.

According to Chantelle Joubert who was inside the house at the time of the fire, “The Fire Prevention told us they suspect the house’s wiring is what could have caused the fire.

“I had a faulty plug in my room and that could maybe be what it was,” she added.

Official comment is still awaited from the Fire Department.
