African Junior Tennis Championships team announced

Team of 11 includes three Gautengers only.

Tennis South Africa (TSA) announced their team to represent South Africa at the African Junior Championships (AJC) in Tunisia in March next year.

The team will firstly however have to qualify for the event by participating in the Southern African Junior Championship in Botswana to be held from 9 to 18 January 2015.

Four players who have previously played in the AJC Qualifying in Botswana in 2014, namely Lara van der Merwe of North West (Girls Under 12), Zani and Lee Barnard of Gauteng North (Girls Under 16) and Richard Thongoana of Gauteng Central (Boys Under 16) are being rested.

It should also be noted that the competition only allows a country only three Under 12 entries and has to be composed of both genders, hence the composition of two girls and one boy.

The team announced is:

• Boys Under 12: Carl Roothman (Bol)
• Girls Under 12: Maria Mostert (FS) and Christine Kruger (FS)
• Boys Under 14: Charl Morgan (GC) and Joubert Klopper (FS)
• Girls Under 14: Carmen Fichardt (FS) and Linge Steenkamp (FS)
• Boys Under 16: Joshua Howard-Tripp (GC) and Rossouw Norval (Bol)
• Girls Under 16: Margo Landman (FS) and Mila Hartig (GN)

The coaches of the team announced are Raxanne Clarke of Western Province and Denton Meintjes of Gauteng North.
