Hartzstraat Primary School recently rewarded its top sport, culture and academic achievers during the annual prizegiving.
“It was by far the most glamorous prizegiving the school has had,” principal Marilyn Dick said.
Some of the top achievers are:
• Creflo Gordon: Sports boy of the Year
• Sarah-Lee Walters: Sports girl of the Year
• Vicklin Tshabalala: Honours award for participation in Provincial Championships
• The principal’s award went to Dean Botha as head boy and Caylon Seekoei as head girl
In the academic department pupils from Grade 1 to 7 received achievements, but according to the principal the night belonged to the Grade 7s.
Caylon Seekoei was the star of the evening. Not only was she the top achiever in her grade (Grade 7), she also was announced the overall top achiever. Five Grade 7 pupils also were awarded bursaries to Hoërskool Noordheuwel in Krugersdorp owing to their excellent sporting achievements.
“These pupils achieved excellent results throughout the year in athletics, netball, soccer, cross country and cricket,” Marilyn added.
The following pupils received special academic awards:

• Alanis Dyers: Top achiever
• Dean Botha: Top achiever
• Robyn Markgraaf: Top achiever
• Kayleigh Vaaltyn: Top achiever
