Help for dump settlers

Pastors urge residents to donate items this Christmas.

Cell group members – pastors from various churches – from Culemborg Park have teamed up to help the community living in the informal settlement next to the Randfontein City dump site.

Most of the people living in the informal settlement gather food and materials from the dump site to survive.

“Conditions these residents are living in are miserable. I have seen people fight over rotten food and torn clothes. They have nothing to feel festive about, which is why we decided to give them a Christmas they won’t forget,” Pitso Moahladi, one of the cell group members said.

They will collect food, clothes, bedding, presents and other items that would be needed for a proper Christmas party and take it to them the Sunday before Christmas.

“We are pleading with the Randfontein and surrounding area communities to open their hearts and give generously. We are all children of God and we should stand together to help those less fortunate. It is our responsibility to identify people who are struggling and help them,” Pitso said.

If you want to help this struggling community you can gather items and contact one of the members to find out where you can hand it over: Shower Seleke on 084 500 0191, Lucky Masoek on 082 951 3724, Naomi Mekgwe on 082 639 2536 and Pitso Moahlodi on 082 484 1424.
