Entries for the 2015 Two Oceans Trail Run now open

Entries will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Online entries for the 2015 Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Run are open from 10am on Thursday, 4 December.

This event was introduced to the line-up of Easter Weekend events – hosted under the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon umbrella – in 2010, and has enjoyed tremendous popularity and success, with entries for the 2014 event selling out in minutes.

Runners can choose between the 10km route – a perfect first-time race for trail novices – and the 22km run that caters for more experienced runners. The entry limit for the 2015 event has been increased to 1 000 participants in total.

Both runs start at the University of Cape Town (UCT), from where athletes will access the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak and nearby forests of the Table Mountain National Park.

The routes comprise varied terrain with steep ascents and descents and offer a challenge to both beginner and seasoned runners. In return, participants are richly rewarded with spectacular scenery and amazing views of the Cape Peninsula.

How to enter

Runners hoping to secure an entry are encouraged to update their personal profile, complete the medical questionnaire and create an entry at www.twooceansmarathon.org.za by 3 December 2014.

They can then log in again at 10am on 4 December to finalise their payment. Entries will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Runners who update their personal profiles and create their entry by 3 December are not guaranteed an entry, and will still be required to access the entry system when entries open at 10am on 4 December 2014 to pay.

The “pre-entry” procedure is in place to facilitate a faster channelling of entrants through the entry system.

Runners are also reminded of the one-time PIN (OTP) that will be sent to them from their banks before they are able to finalise their payment.

“We recently had to make a number of changes to our online entry system to align ourselves with South African banks’ increased safety measures to counteract the rise in internet fraud. One of the measures in place is to send a one-time PIN to the credit card holder,” Carol Vosloo, General Manager of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC said.

“Runners who experience a delay in receiving their OTP should contact their credit card merchant, as this verification process takes place outside of the Two Oceans Marathon entry system,” Vosloo added.
