Greenhills blackout until Friday?

"Electricity might be restored by the end of the day" — electrician on the scene.

Power being restored in Greenhills today is highly unlikely. It is believed that it will be out for the rest of Thursday.

A tree had collapsed on Wednesday night leaving the area without power. The incident wreaked havoc and caused damage to the road surface.

Upon the herald‘s visit to the scene other trees in Kenneth Road were being trimmed because the loose wires had become entangled in the branches. Two electricity poles on either side of the fallen tree were leaning towards it as the entangled the wires were pulling it downwards.

According to Peter Chappie, the electrician on the scene, “We cannot say with these things – we cannot give a specific time but maybe the electricity will be restored by the end of the day.

“We are still cutting the trees so that we can fix the lines.”
