I recently read a very interesting but rather disturbing article about a woman who uses electricity but has not paid an electricity bill in 14 years.

Why then should I pay?

With the fall of apartheid, this woman who lives in Soweto claims free electricity was promised to all South Africans. Soweto – home to more than one and a half million people – allegedly owes more for electricity than the rest of the country put together. It is allegedly that Soweto residents are in arrears of more than R2 billion.

Question is, what would happen if the rest of the country also refuses to pay?
Most South Africans no longer are fooled by attempts to brain-wash them into believing that all is well in their country.

Do you believe it to be fair that millions of non-payers get away with it while law-abiding tax payers are penalised severely should they miss one payment?
