Warning: Tree in road poses danger

A tree on the R41 towards Randfontein has fallen partially into the road and has been there since 19 November.

Even though the current state of the tree does not pose a great amount of danger to motorists, the branch that is hanging in the road could break off completely and cause a serious obstruction for traffic.

Motorists now have to drive towards the middle of the road to prevent their cars from being scratched in passing.

The spot where the branch is hanging is especially dangerous because motorists coming into Randfontein tend to speed the last stretch of the road.

In addition, both sides of the road are a single lane and could cause traffic delays coming into Randfontein should the branch break further.
