Man escapes death as fire rages through home
'Not much is left, except the kitchen and lounge'
A bedroom burnt to the ground and two bathrooms were damaged when a fire broke out at a house in Acre Park earlier this morning.
No injuries or deaths were reported and the local fire department attended the scene.
According to homeowner Wayne Jooste, “I was sleeping when the incident occurred. I am lucky to be alive because my wife woke me up before the fire spread.
“I was sleeping after my night shift when I heard my wife shouting that the house was on fire. We ran outside to call for help. We don’t know what started the fire. I cannot even tell you how much the damages are worth,” a heartbroken Jooste says.
The herald found at the scene that not much was left of the house except for the kitchen and the lounge.
