Casual Day: Public, correctional services and EPR run for the disabled

'The purpose was for the West Rand to come together for the disabled community.'

Krugersdorp Correctional Services, EPR Security and the public joined hands by taking part in a fun run on Casual Day in support of the disabled.

The fun run started at the famous Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse and ended at the correctional services in Krugersdorp last Friday. Residents of Randfontein and the entire West Rand also took part in the event.

Organiser of the event Linda de Kerk says, “The purpose of the run was to have residents from the entire West Rand come together and show support for the disabled community. I am really happy with the turnout of the event. That’s the feedback we wanted in terms of creating awareness.”

De Klerk says that they also competed against disabled people in fun games such as a wheelchair race and a soccer match.

Participants challenged officials from state departments and the local municipality with soccer, netball and volleyball among other.
