The man was laid to rest this past weekend.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Appel Ernst confirms the incident that occurred at the Mohlakeng Cemetery, but cannot comment on the rest as it did not occur within the jurisdiction of Randfontein.

The Daily Sun reports that after the man found out about their affair, he shot and killed the girlfriend’s lover and threw her into his car prior to driving off to his aunt’s house in Mohlakeng. Before reaching their destination, it is believed he then stopped on the R41 near Carletonville, pulled his girlfriend from the car and shot her numerous times.

According to media reports the man proceeded to drive to his aunt’s house where he informed her what had happened and said that he would turn the gun on himself. She allegedly tried to talk him out of it.

After some time the man managed to slip out of the house and went to the Mohlakeng Cemetery, which is less than a kilometre away from his aunt’s house, where he shot himself.

Investigations are under way.
