Man carjacked by heavily armed suspects

Police launches manhunt for two hijackers following incident.

Randfontein police have launched a manhunt for two suspects after having hijacked a vehicle with the registration number BN72KNGP recently.

According to Randfontein police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, “The incident occurred in Aureus. A 39-year-old man was travelling on Old Bank Road when he was boxed in by two vehicles.

“Two heavily armed suspects then approached him, forced him to the back of the car and covered his face. The suspects then drove around with the victim in the car and later stopped at a veld where they threatened him.

“They tied him up and left him there. The victim later was found by passers-by who helped to untie him. The case was then reported to the police. Fortunately enough, the victim was not injured.”

The make of the vehicle is currently unknown to the media.
