Thank you CPF for retrieving my car

Woman's vehicle retrieved by CPF after it had been stolen.

On 2 July 2014 my vehicle was stolen in front of Fitstop Gym in the Greenhills Circle. I was in the gym at the busiest time of the day at the gym as well as the surrounding Greenhills Circle area but when I returned, my vehicle was gone.

There were no witness to speak of and no car guard in sight.

We then rushed to the Police Station in Randfontein where a call-out was made to police units to be on the lookout for the vehicle.

In great shock we remembered that my mom is a member of the CPF (Community Policing Forum, Sector 4), which is a neighbourhood watch focused on criminal activities.

I requested my mother to notify the CPF that my vehicle had just been stolen. Within the hour a request was made for my vehicle registration number, which was sent through directly to a police sergeant and his partner from the flying squad division.

With no tracking system, they found and recovered my vehicle from Soweto and by 9pm my case number was sent to me from the SAPS.

The sergeant and his partner also brought some of my belongings, which were left in my vehicle, to my house.

I would like to thank each and every member of the CPF members whom I spoke to and who pulled together to assist another person in time of need.

It is really great to know that there are still people who watch out for one another and I would highly recommend that each family should get involved with the CPF in their area.
