RHS drama pupils bag more prestigious trophies

Two from local school named best actor and supporting actor respectively.

Cantona James and Antonio Martin from Randfontein High School (RHS) were named best actor and best supporting actor respectively for their school play titled: The League of Extraordinary Boys.

This was when they acted out their roles at three different drama festivals namely the Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts (FEDA), Repertory Amateur Players Society (RAPS) and Edenvale Acting and Drama Society (EADS) recently.

According to the school’s representative Jason Fischer, the two took the crowd by storm and put Randfontein on the map once again.

“The play deals with the horrors of gang culture and juvenile detention among the youth and the two played out their parts spectacularly. This was obviously done through team effort with the other actors within their group as well,” Fischer said.

“I’m sure I speak for everyone at school when I say that we are proud of them and their achievements thus far. If anything, we hope that they continue to hone their skills and become the best at what they do,” Fischer continued.

Fischer adds that during this time, they were competing with 50 public and private schools from Gauteng and its surrounds. It is also worth mentioning that the school’s dramatic arts department was the winner of the One Act Play Festival with their remarkable play during this time as well.
