After more than four years at the Randfontein Herald, it is with more than just a little sadness that I take my leave in search of bigger and better things.

But as they say, nothing lasts forever and with the departure of the old, comes a new breath of fresh air in the form of a brand new editor for the newspaper as well as the website.

Clinton Botha has, over the last five years, established himself as a prolific sports writer at our sister paper, the Roodepoort Record.

More recently he has also ventured into the realms of hard news, making himself count in exposing corruption on all levels.

I am sure he will step into the position with as much vigour and passion as he can muster and that he will, from the foundation that I laid,  take the Herald to new heights.

I would like to thank the whole of Randfontein for an exciting and challenging run.

For friendships forged and for harbouring the same passion for Randfontein and its people as I have during my time there.

Thank you.

Johan Meyer
