“Cemetery road” finally fixed

The dirt road was a concern for both residents and motorists traveling to Tarlton.

Motorists traveling to Tarlton using the old cemetery road (North Way) will be relieved to know that the long awaited upgrade of this notorious road is finally complete.

Preparations for the upgrade to the road started approximately two years ago, but stood still for nearly a year due to apparent funds shortages within the Gauteng Roads Department.

According to DA ward councilor Peter Dick, the construction of the road is welcomed by all road users including residents of the area.

“We are glad to see that the construction of the road is finally over.

“Motorists from Randfontein and across Gauteng can now travel with ease and it’s all thanks to the Gauteng province for initiating this project and seeing it through,” says Dick

He adds that prior to this, motorists made use of the dirt road and were up in arms over the damage caused to their vehicles

According to him, the only thing that remains thus far is the installation of street lights to ensure visibility at night.
