Man hands himself over to police after murder

He confessed to beating up a man and pounding his head on the ground until he was dead.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested after he handed himself over to the police recently.

This after he confessed to killing a 30-year-old Mohlakeng resident during a fist fight at the Mohlakeng hostel.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Appel Ernst, the suspect approached the police station shortly after the incident and surrendered himself.

“The man approached the police station and confessed to the crime

“He explained that a fight had broken out between him and the deceased prior to the brutal death.

“We understand that during this time, punches were thrown around which resulted in the deceased falling to the ground,

“The suspect then pounded his head on the cement floor until he was dead,” says Ernst.

She adds that despite having surrendered himself, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
