One road fixed, how many to go?

Local motorists could barely believe their eyes when municipal workers descended on Kenneth Road to fix potholes.

Greenhills — Municipal workers descended on Kenneth Road on 22 April to fix potholes that have long been the bane of motorists in the area.

Despite recent reports that the municipality is not using the correct materials with which to fix potholes, most motorists welcomed the repairs.

According to one motorist Steven Chauke, the nightmare of driving on Randfontein roads will soon be a thing of the past.

“I must admit that I am very glad to see that the council is taking our concerns seriously.

“Although the problem is still far from being solved with other areas still needing potholes repaired, what matters the most is that the fact that they are taking notice of our complaints.”

The herald still awaits response from municipal spokesperson Lucky Chiya with regard to what material is being used to repair potholes in Randfontein.

  1. Hi,

Yes I think it is really great of them to finally have heard our pleas but as a resident of Pelzvale, I would like to know, after so many requests, when will they start fixing the Pelzvale Road? it is in a appalling state!

  2. Would like to comment on the contractors that the Municipality uses. February before the rain started, I came from Carletonville and was very excited to see workers busy repairing Condorroad close to Finsbury and I was so suprised to see a lady offloading tarr out of the boot of her Toyota Corola. I spoke to Pieter Mathabule regarding this contracter and he confirmed that to qualify for a tender at the Municipality you need at least a bakkie. Needless to say that one week later the pothole reappeared bigger that ever and the nightmare continues………
