Traffic officer caught drinking on duty

The traffic officer was having a beer while in uniform, during work hours.

A Randfontein traffic officer was busted and caught red handed drinking alcohol while on duty in Randfontein.

This was on 14 February at local pub in Greenills at approximately 1pm where the officer was said to be having his beer with a friend.

According to information received from a reliable source, the officer in question did not seem to mind the eyes of the public and only cared about enjoying himself.

“I was shocked and disgusted by this behaviour, especially by a traffic officer who represents an institution while at work and who is supposed to enforce the law,” says the man who does not want to be named for fear of retribution.

“I don’t have a problem with him drinking as a human being, however I do have a problem with that being done during working hours and to make matters worse, in uniform,” says the man.

“For all you know, that officer probably went out of that bar and fined people for driving under the influence of alcohol while he himself had a drink or two before getting in his car.

The Herald is in possession of images of the officer drinking in uniform.

Numerous attempts by the Herald to get comment from the Randfontein Traffic Department have proven unsuccessful.
