Homelake residents hope to persuade the court to deny a murder accused bail.

Update 19 February: Residents of Homelake took to the streets this morning and embarked on a peacefull strike from Park Street all the way to the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court.

This was to oppose bail of a murder accused who stabbed and killed local resident Moleko Moleme (30) also known as Marazor on 27 January.

According to a friend of the deceased and one of the march organizers, Moleme was attacked, stabbed and left for dead at the bridge near Park Street.

He was buried on 8 February at a local cemetery.

The Herald spoke to the deceased’s sister Nthabiseng Moleme who says that Moleko was her only sibling and now she is left to face the world alone with her mother.

“The reality of my brother’s death has not sunk in as yet.

“I cant believe that someone would do something like this.

“To date, I am still trying to come to terms with the whole ordeal,” says Moleme.

She adds that her brother was kind at heart and was a person who loved to joke.

The Herald also spoke to Moleme’s life partner Motshidisi Mohoba who says that she wants nothing but justice for her partner’s brutal death.

“People must know that they can’t just kill people and get away with it.

“We want the law to take its coarse and we want that murderer to rot in jail,” says Mohoba.

The man is accused of stabbing Homelake resident, Moleko Moleme (30) also known as Marazor, to death on 27 January on Park Street at approximately 9pm.

According a friend of the deceased and one of the march organisers, Moleme and a group of friends was walking along Park Street on the way from a local ATM where they drew money when the accused appeared out of nowhere, claiming that Moleme owed him money.

“Basically a man just emerged from nowhere and approached us.

They allegedly later found out that Moleme was stabbed and left for dead near the park Street bridge, where he was found by a passer-by, who called for help.

Another march organiser, Mokgadi Pelane, says that the march has already been approved by the relevant authorities.

“We want to send a message to these criminals that they cannot come into our communities and do as they please.

“They need to also know that they cannot continue to take people’s lives with the hopes that they will be out on bail,” says Pelane.

She adds that the community hopes that the justice system will be applied effectively and sentence the man accordingly.
