A man has been caught and arrested in Mohlakeng after he shot and killed his girlfriend’s ex boyfriend on Christmas Day.
It is believed that at the time of the incident, the deceased was visiting his child, who was mothered by the suspect’s girlfriend.
According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, information received indicated that upon the boyfriend’s arrival at his lovers home, he found her ex-boyfriend visiting his child and pulled out his firearm and shot at him.
“Exact details remain unclear, but the investigation is underway,” says Ernst.
She adds that after the shooting, the deceased rushed to the bathroom where he later died while the suspect fled from the scene on foot.
He was found in Mohlakeng on 27 December, and arrested.
At the time of his arrest he was in possession of an unlicenced firearm.
“He appeared at the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 30 December, says Ernst.
“He faces charges of murder and of being in possesion of an unlicensed firearm.”
