Four suspects arrested after botched house robbery

A resident's son and his friend were shot during the robbery.

Four men have been arrested by EPR security reaction officers after a house robbery at Ooster Plotte in Randfontein.

This was on 5 October at approximately 11.24pm.

According to EPR operations manager Mac van Zyl, EPR security received a panic alarm at the residential premises and immediately dispatched reaction officers to the scene.

“Upon arrival, they found that two people had been shot and that the others were in shock.

“One was shot in the hand and the other in the buttocks,” says Van Zyl.

“An ambulance was called o the scene and the victims were transported to hospital,” says van Zyl.

He adds that the suspects had already fled from the scene and into a veld nearby and reaction officers gave chase.

After a short while, the suspects opened fire at reaction officers.

“The officers were able to dodge the bullets and outrun the suspects.

“The suspects were arrested near a flatllet on the smallholding and later handed over to the police.

“The suspects were found with some of the stolen items in their possession.”
