Another house robbery: 45-year-old strangled

It goes without saying that we do urge residents to keep safe at all times.

Another house robbery has occurred in Randfontein and has police officers hot under the collar cautioning residents to keep safe this summer.

This comes after a 45-year-old woman was attacked and strangled in her home in Dwarskloof on 29 August during a house robbery.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, four men entered the woman’s yard and started breaking down the door.

The woman went to investigate the noises and was confronted by the men inside the house.

“The men forced through the door and entered the house.

“They then strangled her but she managed to get away and immediately ran to an outside building in her yard.

“There, she activated the a panic button,” says Ernst,

The suspects continued to ransack the house and took numerous items such as electronic appliances and computer equipment.

Upon the security company’s arrival at the scene, the suspects had already fled on foot.

According to Ernst, house robberies are rife in Randfontein.

“At this point I cannot say that the situation is getting out of hand as we are constantly trying our best to stop criminals in their tracks.

“But it goes without saying that we do urge residents to keep safe at all times, especially this summer where people tend to leave their doors open for fresh air,” says Ernst.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident can contact the investigating officer in the case, Warrant Officer Karen Nel on 011 278 8130.
