Greenhills man seriously wounded during house robbery

A Greenhills man was badly injured during a house robbery in Darter Street, Greenhills on 28 July.

A 47-year-old Greenhills man was seriously wounded during a house robbery in Darter Street on Sunday, 28 July.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, the man’s 22-year-old son, received a phone call saying that his father was being attacked in his house.

The son rushed over to the father’s house and saw three suspects running from the house and down the street.

The son gave chased but the suspects managed to evade him.

One of his father’s neighbours also joined in the chase, but the son returned to the house to check on his father.

Inside the house he found his injured father bleeding profusely and complaining of chest pains.

He rushed his father to a local hospital for assistance.

Meanwhile, the neighbour managed to run down one of the suspects and apprehended him.

A cellphone stolen from the house was found in his possession.

Ernst says that members from many of Randfontein’s local security companies provided support by cordoning off the surrounding area in an attempt to locate the other suspects, but to no avail.

The arrested suspect was charged with house robbery and possession of stolen property and will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on 30 July.
