Criminals are now targeting restrooms and public toilets, warns security company

The security company revealed that several break-ins were reported in Rand West City this past week.

Security company Mapogo A Mathamaga had a busy week across Rand West City and responded to several serious incidents involving criminal activity.

According to the security company’s operations manager, Danie Vermeulen, at about 07:30 on October 2 in Robina Road, Greenhills, criminals entered both a men’s and women’s ablution facility at a business premise stealing all the taps including window latches.

He said they also recorded another incident of break-in and damage to property in Jacaranda Street, Culemborg Park on October 4.

“Suspects gained entry by breaking a window leading into a vacant house. They went on to vandalise the property. Our armed reaction officers reacted and upon arrival, they managed to arrest two perpetrators in connection with the crime. They were then handed over to the Randfontein police,” said Vermeulen.

He added in a separate incident, the security company responded to a crime of housebreaking and theft on Kenneth Road, Greenhills on October 7.

“The perpetrators gained entry through the main gate which was not locked. They then went on to force open a burglar door and stole one TV.”

Lastly, an incident of business break-in and theft was reported on Ventersdorp Road in Wilbotsdal on October 8.

“This comes after the perpetrators gained entry into the property by breaking a lock of the main gate. They then removed the burglar bars, entered the business property, and stole an unknown amount of stationery and toys.”
