Two arrested in foiled cooking oil business robbery

The suspects entered the premises, held up employees, and then went on to steal cooking oil before fleeing from the scene.

Two suspects were arrested after stealing cooking oil at a business premises in Aureus.

Mapogo A Mathamaga’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen confirmed the business robbery occurred on Bussing Road on August 20.

“The perpetrators, who were armed, entered the premises and held the employees at gunpoint. They then went on to load two trucks with cooking oil before fleeing the scene. One of the trucks overturned close to the scene and two of them were arrested,” said Vermeulen.

He added that the suspects were handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, reaction officers also responded to a housebreaking incident on Mossie Masyn Street in Eike Park on August 19.

“The perpetrators gained entrance to the premises by forcing open the garage door as well as a door leading into the house. This is where they went on to steal various unknown items.”
